Freebie Friday | Phoenix, Arizona
I have lived in Arizona for most of my life and still sit around wondering what to do on the weekends. We are plagued by the heat and we would rather not be outside in the 110 degree weather but I have a few ideas that can keep us cool and happy during these dreadful summer months.
1. Splash Pads – These are brilliantly designed no depth water parks. No threat of drowning children, or pool urination. Most of the parks are filled with interesting architecture that have hidden water jets and fountains that pop up and spray on a rhythm. Note these are for children. I have seen many adults jump in with their children. It’s fun for all ages. Price: Free!
2. Scottsdale Art Walk – Downtown Scottsdale has been hosting this art walk for the past 30 years. It occurs every Thursday night except Thanksgiving from 7pm to 9pm . More than 100 art galleries in downtown Scottsdale have opened their doors for avid art lovers. This is in the evening so it should be about 90 degrees. It will still be a tad bit warm but the galleries will be cool in more ways than one. Price: Free!
3. Tour the PING Golf Club factory – PING Golf is proud to show their successes and a unique way in which they do this is by offering free tours of the manufacturing facility in Phoenix. Reservations are required, as they will only take a limited number of people on each guided tour. The facility is nice and air conditioned. Price:Free!
4. Trolley Tour of Downtown Scottsdale: Scottsdale offers free trolleys that travel through downtown Scottsdale. The tours are guided but you can jump off and pick up the next one just like a regular bus. It’s a great way to explore downtown Scottsdale. Price: Free!
