Here are some wonderful homemade household cleaners. These work excellent and are cheaper than buying premixed solutions in the grocery store. Here are just a few of my favorite. If you are looking for anything in particular feel free to leave me a comment, I might just have a recipe for it!

Floor Cleaner:

1 cup white vinegar

1 gallon hot water

Mix until combined. Can be used on all floor surfaces except wood.

 

Wood Floor Cleaner:

1/2 cup vinegar

1 gallon water

Do not use too much vinegar per it could damage the floors. Be careful not to get the wood floors too wet.

 

All Purpose Cleaner:

2 tablespoons white vinegar

1 tablespoon Borax

hot water

10 drops essential oils

4 drops of dish detergent

Mix in a 16-20 oz spray bottle.

 

Window Cleaner:

1/2 tablespoon of dish detergent

3 tablespoons of white vinegar

hot water

Mix in a 16-20 oz spray bottle.

Review: We love mexican food in my house and this is the most authentic place that we have come across that’s within a mile of our home. The interior reminds you of a traditional taco shop. I love the food and the prices. I recommened the carnitas (shredded pork) or the carne asada burritos. There are aguas frescas available (fruit drinks) and I love every single flavor. This is located in the same lot as the Fry’s Grocery Store on the corner of Baseline and 48th St.

Review: We love pizza and we love Nellos. The only thing is that it is a hassle to get in a sit down to eat. We love everything that is on the menu and would probably frequent the place a little more often if there wasn’t such a long wait. But my husband and I are instant gratification types. So this is definitely a place that is worth the wait.

Review: This is the best Chinese food restaurant in Ahwatukee in my opinion. They are quick and everything is made fresh and is delicious. We get this delivered to the house quite regularly and it’s here within 20 minutes and is still pipping hot. I love the orange chicken and the egg rolls.

Review: This is a good place to get a drink and some finger food. There is always live music and a ton of people around. It can get kind of pricey but there are things on the menu that are budget conscious.

Review: This is an Italian restaurant and everything on the menu is delicious. They have numerous pastas to choose from each one made to order. I love the gnocchi alla vodka and the mushroom chicken fettuccine. There are many things you can try. There is a bar and a sit down restaruant. This makes it easy to either have a nice quite  dinner date or loud music party date. Or both. It’s up to you.

Nyro’s Gyro’s

Review: I have not been able to find a decent gyro here is Arizona.. and the search was going for about 8 years strong. That was until I found Nyro’s. The gyros are delicious and everything that is heavenly is piled into a pita here. Words cannot describe the way this gyro will just melt into your mouth. I suggest you try this out if you have never had a gyro before!

Golden Butter Cake & Raspberry Chocolate Frosting

GOLDEN BUTTER CAKE &

RASPBERRY CHOCOLATE CREAM CHEESE FROSTING

Cake Ingredients:

• 2 1/2 cup(s) (plus 2 Tbsp.) flour
• 1 tablespoon(s) baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
• 1 cup(s) milk
• 2 teaspoon(s) (pure) vanilla extract
• 1 cup(s) (2 sticks) unsalted butter or margarine, softened
• 2 cup(s) sugar
• 4 large eggs

Cake Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350ºF. Grease two 9-inch round cake pans. Line bottoms with parchment paper or waxed paper; grease paper. Dust with flour.
2. In medium bowl, stir together flour, baking powder and salt. In measuring cup, mix milk and vanilla.
3. In large bowl, with mixer at medium-high speed, beat butter and sugar until light and creamy, about 5 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Reduce speed to low; add flour mixture alternately with milk mixture, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Beat just until smooth, scraping the bowl occasionally with a rubber spatula.
4. Divide batter evenly among prepared pans. Bake until toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean, 23 to 25 minutes. Cool on wire racks for 10 minutes. Invert cakes onto racks; remove paper and let cool completely.

*You could also use a boxed cake mix. Pillsbury makes a good butter cake mix. It’s the same as a regular boxed cake without oil and the addition of butter.

Cake “Slop” (we’re BBQ fans!)

2 tablespoons of butter, melted completely

about 3-4 tablespoons of liquor  (I use Amaretto but you can use anything that suits your fancy. Stay away from super sugary liquors though… they don’t bode well)

*Mix well and “slop” over the cake. Just coat the entire top of the cake with the mixture. You don’t want your cake to end up soggy. Just make sure you don’t do that. Use good judgement. There should be a little extra mixture left when you’re done.

Raspberry Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting Ingredients:

3 1/2 Cups of Powdered Sugar

8 ounces of Cream Cheese, softened

1 tablespoon of vanilla

1/2 cup of  Raspberries

1/3 cup of coco powder

3 tablespoons butter, melted

Frosting Directions:

Soak raspberries in liquor for about 30 minutes. Then crush the raspberries in a bowl. Sift through strainer to get rid of all the seeds.Then, with a hand blender, mix the cream cheese, butter and half of the powdered sugar together. Once combined mix the rest of the powdered sugar and coco powder (sift these together to avoid clumps in the frosting) and vanilla into the mixture until completely combined. If the mixture is too thin add more powdered sugar until the right consistency (a little thicker than cake batter). Then mix in the raspberry “puree”. Mix until the entire mixture combined.

This will make enough frosting to frost a two 8 inch round cakes, 24 cupcakes, or a 13×9 sheet cake
