Limited Coupons.. No more Extreme Couponing?

There has been a lot of buzz lately of manufacturers and store’s limiting their coupons and changing their coupon policies because of the influx of new couponer’s and the show Extreme Couponing. P&G has already started to limit their coupons to 4 of the same coupon per transaction. In my area, there has been quite a few changes in the store’s coupon policies. But none of these changes have affected me as a regular coupon user. I know I do not have a family of four or more but I still believe that I coupon in an extreme way.

I usually buy 2 papers each week and print coupons of the internet for things I am going to use. If it’s the beginning of the month and there is a P&G insert I will buy 4 and trade my coupons with my few couponing friends. With this “limited” amount of coupons I am still able to save more than 60% on my grocery bills and we do not eat a lot of junk food. If you coupon in a similar way I do than you should not have a problem with the changes that have been made and the ones to follow. Like I have stated in my Basics section. Most items go on sale to the rock-bottom price at least once every 12 weeks. Therefore all you need to do is buy enough to last you 12 weeks and with the limitations you should still be able to do this with a family of four to six.

 

Always check the coupon and your store policy before making a game plan. Many store are now allowing overages when using coupons as a “perk” of all the other changes. So be sure to planyour shopping adventure following all the rules of the coupons and the store policy because if you plan correctly you can still save big.

Free Colgate Toothpaste at Bashas

You can get up to 4 tubes of Colgate Toothpaste at Bashas this sales cycle (per shopping trip). All you need is the $.75/1 Any Colgate Toothpaste from last weeks Smart Source Circular. Bashas is currently accepting all manufacturers coupons as at least $1.00. So if you have the $.75/1 coupon paired with the $.99 sale you got yourself some free toothpaste. Bashas will only double up to the price of the item.

GROCERY ADVENTURE

This is my list for this week. I am doing my big trip today or tomorrow with my husband (if he feels he needs to buy some meat, it must be a man thing). There is a really easy way to check out the following Sunday’s coupons at SundayCouponPreview.com. It’s wonderful… I plan my shopping trips around these previews. Most times I do my grocery shopping on Thursdays or Fridays but if there are high-dollar coupons for items in the current sale I will wait until Monday morning to go. Usually the store has stocked up on all products at this time of the sale so I never run into a product being completely gone even waiting this long into a sale. This coming Sunday’s paper doesn’t have any coupons for things that are listed in this sale, that my family will use, so I am not worried about waiting until Monday to do my shopping. Plus we are running low on a few essential items…COFFEE!!!

Here is my list. This is not a complete coupon match up. I will be setting a schedule for this and posting regularly. With this I am going to show you how I can still stock up on items WE USE and still save a good amount of money. I am not unrealistic when it comes to my savings. There are items that we rarely get coupons for and we need these items. Sometimes we need an item, it’s not on sale and I don’t have a coupon. If my husband runs out of his deodorant (which he is brand specific and I don’t blame him) I am not even going to think twice about buying the cheapest one available. I will go to his favorite brand and buy ONE. Then I will put that item on my “TO STOCKPILE” list and hopefully it will go on sale before he runs out again. Which is usually the case. I aim to have at least a 50% savings when grocery shopping. This may seem a little low for those who have been glued to TLC’s Extreme Couponing (don’t get me wrong I am too, I LOVE IT!) but I have just begun this adventure and I have been consistently saving at least this much so it’s a good baseline for me to go off of right now. You may have never picked up a coupon in your life.. Then a realistic goal may be 25%. If you are saving money.. Does it really matter how much it is? Once you get the hang of it you set your goal higher. Stockpiling Moms has put together some wonderful post on how to get started. Check them out!
